"Habitat" subject files of the division chief, 1967-1969.

Series 8 of record group 73-50 consists of habitat subject files of the division chief of the Fisheries Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for the years 1967-1969. Consists of general correspondence relating to habitats, which also includes a detailed study of the physical characteristics of the Pigeon River and its potential cultural uses; correspondence about, and reports on, the pollution of certain state waters; correspondence regarding plans to provide public access to particular bodies of water; reports and correspondence concerning business of the Land and Water Policy Commission; correspondence concerning state acquisition of private lands with great habitat values; letters and reports on the levels of inland lakes; correspondence and law suits about the chemical treatment of lakes to remove undesirable species of fish; reports and correspondence dealing with Act 20, P.A. 1964, called the "Surplus Waters Act"; and reports from, and correspondence with, the Corps of Engineers concerning various water improvement projects undertaken by the Corps.
